Learn about Membership

"How can I find out more about joining?"

Contact us about visiting one of our meetings! By attending a local chapter meeting, you will also meet DAR members who have the experience to assist you in obtaining your goal of DAR membership. As the official NSDAR website states, you do not need to complete an application worksheet before attending a chapter meeting. You do not even need to have identified your patriot ancestor!

The Georgia State Society NSDAR also offers a wealth of resources, including expert researchers and application preparers. You are invited to click here to read a personal message from the Georgia State Society's Regent, Sally McGlaun Baldwin, as she offers more insight into the structure of the DAR, and also into the application process for joining.

The NSDAR website provides additional information and helpful resources on membership.

"How do I know if I am eligible?"

Membership is open to all women, regardless of race, religion, or ethnic background, as long as they are no less than eighteen years of age and can prove lineal descent from an ancestor who aided in achieving American independence.

You may also visit the NSDAR website for the complete description of eligibility.

"What about men and children?"

They have their own organizations, with like-minded goals:
